Rob Davis - Instructor of Pastoral Studies

Rob Davis accepted the call of the Bible Church of Cabot on May 20, 2010. He has been in vocational ministry since 1994, beginning as an associate pastor of music and youth before attending Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1997. Since graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Masters of Divinity degree in 1999, he has served as a preaching/senior pastor at churches in Indiana and Illinois.

Rob is passionate about grace-filled, Christ-centered, expository teaching. His preaching is expository, usually investigating books of the Bible verse-by-verse; and his task is to explain the text’s original meaning in its Biblical and historical context, and then to bridge the gap of time by illustrating and applying the truths of the text to our lives today. This type of preaching leads to transformed lives as God’s children seek, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to be obedient to His Word. He also has a God-inspired passion to shepherd His flock in a Spirit-empowered church where Christ’s love is demonstrated among believers.

He has been married to his lovely wife Page since 1982, and they have 3 boys, Ian, Connor and Grant.

Rob earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education and served 12 years in the U.S. Navy Band in Washington DC. He has also been a university level percussion professor and a high school band director, so music has served both as a vocation and an avocation. His sons are equally avid musicians and the family enjoys playing together. Rob is also a die-hard Cardinals baseball fan.

Rob’s approach to ministry is fueled by the sovereign work of God in Christ that the Bible constantly teaches in verses like these:

Now the God of Peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus or Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is blessing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21
